Suara Festival 2023

LUNA's first awakening · Nuanu, Bali · 2023

Three nights of LUNA's birth — the studio's collaboration with artist Sasha Kojjjo and Alexander Milov to bring the 12-metre wireframe sculpture to life with synchronised laser, strobe, and audio-reactive light.

  1. Brief

Bring Alexander Milov's 12-metre LUNA sculpture to life for her three-night festival debut.

  2. Approach

Laser-mapping tests, then a lighting score with Sasha Kojjjo that traces the sculpture's anatomy.

  3. Outcome

Blinders at chakra points, strobes in hands and legs, lasers synchronised with live audio-reactive light.

  4. Challenges

Festival timing — install and calibrate by day, debut by night. Audio-sync across multiple lighting subsystems.

  5. Result

An emotional, vibrant emergence. The piece stayed at Nuanu and now activates every night at Luna Beach Club.

I · The birth of a symbol

It began when artist Alexander Milov conceived the LUNA sculpture and matched the symbol to Nuanu. The work continues his iconic Love series, first presented at Burning Man.

LUNA is a metaphorical universe — pregnant with a new form of life. Here, at Suara, she symbolised the birth of Nuanu itself: a place for meaning, community, and cultural evolution.

II · The composition

Three nights, three voices: light, sound, presence. We started with laser-mapping tests on the wireframe — finding which beams resolved into form, which dispersed into smoke.

Then, with Sasha Kojjjo, we composed the lighting score: blinders at chakra points marking the sculpture's spine, strobes in the hands and legs as percussion, lasers reading the audio waveform live.

Her first breath. Vibrant, audiovisual, and unrepeatable.
